This Privacy Policy describes how Onur Kuru ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the PageWise mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or a relay email address if you choose to hide your email). This data is processed via Firebase Authentication.
User Content: Highlights, notes, and annotations you create within the App.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Reading Progress: Books you read, pages completed, reading streaks, and time spent reading.
Usage Analytics: App interactions, feature usage, screen views, and session duration.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and language settings.
Subscription Data: Subscription status, plan type, and transaction identifiers (processed through RevenueCat and Apple).

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect precise location data.
We do not collect contacts, photos, or other media from your device.
We do not serve advertisements or collect data for ad targeting.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the App
Sync your reading progress and User Content across devices
Process and manage your subscription
Analyze usage patterns to improve the user experience
Communicate with you about your account or the App
Ensure the security and integrity of the App

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically:

Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
Reading progress and User Content: Retained until you delete your account.
Analytics data: Retained in anonymized/aggregated form and may persist after account deletion.

Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed from our systems within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently deleted.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 All Users

Regardless of your location, you can:

Access your personal data through the App
Delete your account and associated data through the App's settings or by contacting us
Opt out of analytics by disabling analytics in the App's settings

6.2 European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including:

Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data for certain purposes.
Right to Restrict Processing: Request restriction of processing under certain circumstances.

Our legal basis for processing your data is: (a) performance of a contract (providing the App services), (b) your consent (analytics), and (c) legitimate interests (improving the App).

6.3 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
No Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

7. Children's Privacy

PageWise is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. 8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our third-party service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
